When you book with Run Like a Haggis, you’ll receive an automated booking confirmation email (check your inbox and junkmail for this!).

A few weeks before your course date, you will receive an email detailing the meeting arrangements for the day, the itinerary and kit list.

On the day we meet in the main car park at Hamsterley Forest where we will complete the disclaimers and introduce ourselves before we get going with the course. We will be outside all day and will not be moving quickly so please consult the weather forecast and dress appropriately.

Please don’t worry! If the FAQs here don’t help, just drop me an email at fran@runlikeahaggis.com

Less fit than you expect! The beginner and intermediate courses will be taken at a walking pace. There is a lot to be looking at and thinking about regarding our mapwork and doing that whilst running comes with practise! You need to be fit enough to be on your feet and moving for 4 hours but this will not be at a quick speed.

For the night navigation course, we may go a little further afield but basic running fitness (up to 10km) would be more than adequate to complete the course.

For the guided night trail run, this will be tailored to your ability so just let me know when you book and I will tailor the leader, route and speed to your requirements.

You don’t need any highly specialist equipment for a Run Like a Haggis course. You will need trail shoes or walking boots as well as waterproofs, warm clothes and some food and a drink. If you have a compass then bring it along but if you don’t own one then I will be able to provide this for you.

As long as the forest is open then the courses will go ahead. Occasionally, Hamsterley Forest has to close due to high winds or flooding. If this happens you will receive a full refund or transfer to a course on an alternative date.

Up until 4 weeks before your course, I offer free transfers if you are unable to attend on the date that you have booked for.

No! However, I am not qualified to take under 18s without a parent present.

Yes of course!

Food and drink are not included in the cost of the courses. If you are on the beginner or intermediate course then we will have an hours break for lunch. There is a café located by the main car park or you are welcome to bring your own packed lunch.

Your booking in non-refundable. If you would like to change the date of the course you are booked on then you can do this up to 4 weeks ahead of your course date.
